Actors: Zac Efron, Taylor Schilling

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of The Lucky One

Logan (Zac Efron) is a Marine deployed in Iraq. While in the field, he sees a picture of a pretty girl in the rubble and picks it up. Just then, an explosion occurs, and he survives. He owes it to that picture that he is still alive. He looks for anyone who might know who owns it, but fails. He pockets it, believing it is his good luck charm. When his tour is over, he looks for her. His only clue is a lighthouse in the background, which he tracks down to Louisiana. He finally finds her, Beth, working at her family dog kennel. He wants to tell her how she saved his life, but stops himself. She thinks she's there for a job, he plays along, intrigued by her, and stays. Beth's grandma has a good feeling about Logan, and is happy with the idea of him being there. Logan makes fast friends with Beth's young son, Ben. Logan develops feelings for Beth, but Beth is wary, and distant. Her ex-husband is the town sheriff, who somewhat manipulates her knowing that she's too scared to go against him for fear of taking away Ben. In time, Beth starts liking Logan, but her ex has other plans. Later, Logan finds out that it was Beth's brother who had her picture in Iraq, and that the two were very close. Logan's revelation of his real motives for finding Beth is made known, and Beth somewhat feels betrayed. Eventually, she realizes that it was fate that brought Logan there and it's time for her to fulfill her happiness.

Best part of story, including ending: Like other Nicholas Sparks-based movies which are always set in the South, I love the small town, friendly setting. It makes the romance more raw and uncontrived since the settings really just focus on the simple people and the lives they live.

Best scene in story: When Logan cannot stop himself from showing Beth that he's in love with her and Beth puts her guard down.

Opinion about the main character: Logan is a simple guy with simple wishes. He wants to serve his country, do good, and maybe, find the right girl for him.
