A hard-edged Senator's assistant, Marcie, (Janeane Garofalo) is sent to a small town in Ireland in order to find her bosses' relatives for an upcoming election. As with many romantic comedies, there are several obstacles along the way; the most prominent one being the local Matchmaking Festival. Marcie is bombarded with colorful locals, young admirers, possible romance and a job hanging over her head throughout a movie that guarantees a bit of that warm and fuzzy feeling, as well as a sense of awe for Ireland's landscape.
