A novice nun named Ann (Reynolds) begins her service to the church in a European convent where she interacts with locals in need of guidance, including a young woman named Nicole (Ross). To help cheer souls along, the Sister sings. When Father Clementi (Montalban) hears Sister Ann sing, he takes her to a talent contest. Suddenly, Sister Ann is signed to a record deal and her uplifting songs make her an international star which includes a guest appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. She, however, is uncertain of how to react to her new-found fame. This has even had the power to bring an old flame (Everett) back into her life. She must decide which is more important -- her vows or worldly fame - with the patient guidance of the Mother Prioress (Garson).

This is set in Europe, but the cast is decidedly not European.
