Cockney ex-con,Harry Pendel(Geoffery Rush)has reinvented himself in Panama as the tailor to wealthy diplomats and politicians. He has also married well. His wife(Jamie Lee Curtis)works as an administrator to the current Panamanian government. All Harry wants is a quiet family life with his family. But, British spy and womanizer,Andrew Osnard(Pierce Brosnan)seduces the tailor with his charm and threatnens to reveal Harry's past unless he helps him gather sensitive government information. To pacify Osnard, Harry fabricates a yarn that leads to deadly repercusions for himself, his family, and for Panama. Dry and aberant humor, throughout, make up for a non-linear plot, but the ending surprises and satisfies. Rush, Brosnan, Curtis--play well off each other and make an otherwise typical spy yarn into a film worth seeing. Out of 4 *** I give it 3+
