Detailed plot synopsis reviews of The Three Musketeers (1948)

This all-out matinee swashbuckler covers more of the story arc of the Dumas novel than most versions of this story. Young d'Artagnan arrives in Paris wanting to be a musketeer, winds up challenged to a duel to fight three of them, then winds up involved in a plot to recover the Queen's stolen jewels. After that adventure, Milady de Winter seeks revenge as Cardinal Richelieu tries to become the most powerful man in France. Lots of thrilling fencing action, with Gene Kelly bringing his dance skill and natural humor and toughness to the role of the young Gascon.
