Detailed plot synopsis reviews of The Time Traveler's Wife

Henry DeTamble is a young boy who, when about to get into a horrible car accident, finds that he has traveled back in time by two weeks. He wakes up naked in a strange location, confused and scared. Suddenly, an older version of himself appears with clothes for him. He explains that for the rest of his life, Henry will travel through time without controlling when it will happen or where he will go. He always ends up going to significant moments, places, or people in his life, and since his clothes can't travel through time with him, he always wakes up naked in the new place. Some travels through time later, he meets an adult woman named Clare. She is delighted to see him, and she explains that they will be married later in his life. Henry apparently visited Clare for the first time when she was a little girl, and ever since then, they have been drawn to each other, connected despite Henry's disappearances and reappearances. Clare realized eventually that Henry was in love with her and that they must be romantically attached in the future, so her life had been pointing that way ever since. Complications of their relationship find odd solutions: for example, Clare keeps a record of every time they ever hung out, so that instead of having to encounter named Henry every time, Henry can give a younger version of herself the list of places and times that she must bring clothes for him. Their relationship is not perfect though, as Clare desperately wants a child, but since Henry has the time travel gene, the child in Clare's womb keeps transporting out of her before it's ready to be born. Eventually, they succeed, but when Henry travels forward and meets a teen version of his daughter, he is told when and where he will die. He must decide whether to keep it from Clare and if he should try to stop it somehow.

Best part of story, including ending: It's a clever take on the time travel genre, lacing it together with the romantic drama, and it's carried by the chemistry of the two leading actors.

Best scene in story: At their wedding, Henry time travels away right before the ceremony begins... but luckily, an older version of Henry appears in time to make it happen.

Opinion about the main character: Henry makes the most of his plight, and he finds intelligent ways around his problems. This makes him a good romantic lead to root for.
