Representatives of all major street gangs travel to a meeting in uptown New York, where the leader of the most prominent, largest gang in town (the Grammercy Riffs), appeals to them to join forces and take control of the city. When he (Cyrus) is shot, the Warriors are falsely accused and, with the temporary truce called off, have to fight their way back to Coney Island as they pass through enemy territory. Considered by some a sick exploitation movie, a cult classic by others, this low-budget Walter Hill film allegedly inspired real-life violence by actual gangs who believed Cyrus' pipedream was worth pursuing.
