Detailed plot synopsis reviews of The Wolfman

Lawrence Talbot is a famous actor who receives some terrible news: his brother, Ben, has apparently been missing for over a month. He goes home to his family estate, where he sees for the first time in years his father, John, with whom he does not get along. Lawrence discovers he is too late-- they found Ben's body, and when he sees it, he is shocked at how horribly the body has been torn apart. Ben's body is adorned with a gypsy medallion, and while many blame the gypsies for Ben's murder, Lawrence overhears someone discuss having seen a similar murder, believed to be at the hands of a werewolf. Lawrence goes to visit the gypsies to get more information, but he is too late: the people of the town have arrived looking for answers about the murder. However, they are quickly met by attacks from a horrific creature, who is wickedly strong and lightning fast, murdering countless people and biting into Lawrence. A gypsy sews up his wounds, and while others urge the gypsy to let him die, she refuses. Ben's fiancee, Gwen, comes to town to help take care of Lawrence, while a local policeman, Aberline, believes that Lawrence may be the one responsible for the murders at the gypsy camp. When, at the next full moon, John locks himself away in a safe room, Lawrence turns into a murderous werewolf, killing several nearby and finding himself under arrest the next morning. He must find a way to get out of the city or kill himself before he can turn into the wolfman and kill again.

Best part of story, including ending: The movie is very hit-or-miss, but there are some terrifically gory sequences and some nice hammy performances at times. It gets slow for stretches, but it has its moments.

Best scene in story: The initial gypsy camp attack is an insanely bloody sequence, with guts and missing body parts galore. It's by far the most exciting part of the film.

Opinion about the main character: Lawrence is relatively bland as a human, but his plight once he is cursed by the wolfman's bite certainly garners him some further sympathy.
