The review of this Movie prepared by Sara Embrey

This movie is a must- see family classic. With an all star cast, "the Yearling" is a moving story, based upon Marjorie Rawlings prize winning novel of a boy's coming of age. It takes place in Florida, the early pioneer days. A 12 year old boy tries to find meaning in his lonely existence and yearns for a pet. Spending time with his father whom he idolizes and nearly loses to snakebite, he has an opportunity to raise an orphaned fawn. The family endures a continual struggle to keep their meager farm going, and endure the hardships of pioneering. With the trials of this difficult life, choices need to be made when Mr. Baxter (Peck)is injured and can no longer farm the clearing. Jody (C. Jarman Jr.) takes a man's responsibilities to heart and nearly becomes a man in the process. A very emotional and moving story.
