All good things must come to an end. I beleive "Thirteen at Dinner" marks just that for Peter Ustinov's role as Poirot. His hair is now white and his moustache wonky. Based on Agatha Christie's "Lord Edgeware Dies", many of the characters have been changed into American movie stars which is completely wrong. David Suchet made his appearance as Japp, the stupid Inspector - It was probably this movie that made the LWT company decide to shortlist Suchet for Poirot in the ever-popular TV series. This story has since been made into a far better film starring David Suchet as Poirot. This tells the story of an old man named Lord Edgeware ho gets murdered. Focus is on his wife, but she has the perfect alibi. Then the butler disappears and there is another murder, then another... Poirot and Hasteings investigate. That is the plot - Read the book, it's great! The movie however would score 4 out of 10. The only reason it is still popular is the all star cast.
