Charles Thenier's son dies after having been hit by a car in the middle of a small town. When the police tells him that the hit-and-run driver is nowhere to be found, Thenier swears to himself to kill the murderer and decides to begin his own investigation. By chance, he discovers that the occupants of the vehicle were the actress Helene Lanson and her brother-in-law Jean Yanne. Thenier easily seduces Helene Lanson and is soon brought face to face with Jean Yanne. Yanne is a loathsome man who despises anybody approching him. He's even publicly humiliating his own son everytime he can. Thenier waits for the right opportunity to take revenge on Yanne but he has to reckon now with Philippe's desire to murder his father.
