The setting is the french Riviera in the late forties. Cary Grant has once been known as "The Cat", a famous burglar specialized in the robbery of jewels. However, since the end of WWII, Grant lives a normal life as a wine grower. Now a large number of stealings are committed in the Riviera jet set and Cary is the first one to be suspected. Harrassed by the police detectives, he decides to discover by himself who's the new "Cat". In his quest, he will be seduced by Grace Kelly, a rich american heiress, who's desperately looking for a husband in Europe.
