American tourists in Brazil are caught by men who want to harvest their organs. Alex, an American, along with two girls, Bea and Amy, travel to the remote parts of Brazil by bus. Their bus falls off a ravine and they are stranded, along with other tourists, two Brits and an Aussie girl Pru. They go to a nearby beach and party it up there. While dancing and drinking at a local bar, they are roofied and they awake the next day without their belongings. They walk further until they reach a slum village and cause a commotion when they see their stuff being worn by some of them. A local boy Kiko invites them to stay at his uncle's cabin in the mountains, where they can bunk for awhile. All six come along and reach the empty house. However, on the way there, Kiko is injured, so he is tended to by the group. Alex snoops around and finds a stash of foreign passports in a drawer.

Later in the night, they are awakened by the sound of a landing chopper. Zamora, Kiko's uncle arrives with a group of armed men. The group is confused, and soon they are rounded up violently by the men. Amy is brought to an operating room, and her organs are harvested while she's on the table. She dies. The rest are kept in enclosures, but are able to break free. One of the Brits has been prepped and sedated, and while the other Brit stays behind to rescue him, he is caught and suffers the same fate as Amy. Both Brits die. Alex, Kiko, Bea, and Pru run away from the cabin. But the two girls get separated in the jungle. The two boys catch up to Bea, and later find Pru in a cave. However, Zamora is in the cave as well and they have to go underwater to another cavern to evade him. Kiko is killed. They are being pursued by the henchmen, as well as a guy with a bow.
Bea overcomes the archer, and when they all come face to face to Zamora, one of his guy's betrays him and shoots him dead. The three surface and reach a local village for help. They leave Brazil but not without giving other travelers some sage advice: do take the plane.
Best part of story, including ending:
It gives an extreme and very bad tourist depiction of third world countries as havens for these kinds of crimes.
Best scene in story:
When they were trapped in the cave and had to deal with finding breathing space as well as evading men who were out to kill them.
Opinion about the main character:
Alex and his crew were too trusting, and didn't interpret the weird clues (stolen passports) that were already staring them in the face. They should have left ASAP.
