The movie starts when Dr. Martin Harris and his wife Liz arrive in Berlin to attend a Biotech summit. When Martin reaches the hotel he realizes that his briefcase is missing in the luggage and then he takes anothe taxi (driven by a lady named Gina) to go back to the airport to find it. But unfortunately; on the way, the car crashes into the river after an accident and Martin goes unconscious on the spot. Gina saves him from drowning and disappears later to avoid the police (being an illegal immigrant). Martin regains consciousness after spending few days in coma.

The high point of the thriller steps in when Martin returns to the hotel and sees his wife with another man claiming to be Dr. Martin Harris and shockingly, his wife refuses to identify him at all. He (in a state of disbelief) tries finding one of his old colleagues Dr Cole but he was unavailable and he then heads to the office of Prof Leo Bressler (whom he was scheduled to meet) and came to know that a fake Dr. Martin was already having a meeting with him. Martin still tries to prove his identity but in vain. He gets unconscious again and finds himself in the hospital once he wakes up. As per doctor, these are the symptoms of remaining in the coma and therefore he's having identity crisis, as he's not fully recovered. Meanwhile a nurse in the hospital gives him a card about a person who finds people.

Smith is a killer who comes to hospital to kill Martin. He kills the nurse too but Martin somehow manages to escape. He then goes to meet Ernst Jürgen – a private investigator & former Stasi agent. The only clues / possessions Martin are a book (gifted to him by his father) and Gina (the taxi driver). Jurgen finds out that the Tech-Summit is to be attended by Prince Shada of Saudi Arabia, who's working on some secret project with Prof Bressler and has skipped many murdering attempts by people in his own country. Jurgen doubts that there could be a connection between Martin's identity crisis and Price Shada.
Martin & Gina survive another murdering attempt. Martin's book contained few numbers written by his spouse. Meanwhile, Cole meets Jurgen at his office with intent to kill him (that Jurgen came to know) and he therefore drinks cyanide to save Martin. Martin & Liza were both framed by the company they are working for. He somehow manages to retrieve his lost briefcase and part ways with Gina. But when she saw him kidnapped by Cole & a killer, she follows the van in a taxi and saves Martin by bumping her car to the killer and van standing behind him.

Martin finds his Canadian passports with another name from the briefcase and realizes that he along with Liz came to Berlin 3 months prior to plant a bomb in Prince Shada's suite. He approaches hotel security staff and convince them about the matter. He further realizes that the target is Prof Bressler instead of Prince Shada, who has developed a modified breed of corn. Meanwhile, Liz (after stealing the data from Bressler's laptop) got herself killed in a blast while attempting to disarm the bomb. On the other hand Martin kills the fake Martin to save Prof Bressler.

It's fun watching the whole dramatic story.

Best part of story, including ending: With its intriguing story and thrilling action sequences, "Unknown" is worth checking out for those who are into action films as well as those who like a good mystery that needs solving.

Best scene in story: When Dr Martin (Liam Neeson) escapes the murdering attempt from the hopistal. As he was not good enough to do so but still he manages to escape the assassin.

Opinion about the main character: Liam Neeson is a gifted actor. He puts his own-self in the character to make it happening & successful
