Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Unstoppable (2010)

A rookie and a veteran train operator try to stop a runaway train. Will is a newbie, only a few months out of training and is a train conductor assigned to long-time engineer Frank for the day. When an incompetent train employee fails to activate the air brakes of another train, the train leaves the depot from the wrong track and begins to gather up speed, without any person manning it. Soon, the train operators convene to avert a disaster, they deploy a guy Ned to drive in a truck to catch up to the train. Meanwhile, everything in the train's path is being cleared with obstacles such as hazardous materials, fuel tanks, and small towns being in direct danger. Will and Frank are stopped on a side track, and when the train passes them, they try to catch up to it. They board the train but after a successful attempt to slow it down, it later gains speed again. Ned in the truck arrives, and Will rides with him to board the runaway's locomotive. He reaches it and finally makes the train stop. After the ordeal, Frank retires, while Will is promoted.

Best part of story, including ending: So much action localized in one place, a moving train. Reminded me a lot of "Speed."

Best scene in story: The climax of finally catching up to the locomotive.

Opinion about the main character: I like the rookie/teacher aspect of the two characters.
