Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Vacancy

A couple becomes the "stars" of a snuff piece when they check into a creepy motel. Amy and David check into a motel in the middle of nowhere when their car breaks down. When they watch the videotapes in their room, they are taped murders of other guests who have stayed there before. They try to escape the motel to no avail. Masked men chase them so they lock themselves in. They try to find a way out through a grate/tunnel and discover the manager's office with CCTVs of every room. Amy calls the police, but later when he arrives, he is killed by one of the men. Amy and David go back to the room, but David is then stabbed by an attacker. Amy hides in the ceiling, and then gets a car and drives off, hitting one man while injuring another hanging on the roof. She runs into the motel manager who beats her extensively. But Amy grabs hold of a gun and is able to shoot him. She runs to David and finds that he's still alive

Best part of story, including ending: It's the same slasher formula of being trapped in the middle of nowhere which is rather tiresome at this point.

Best scene in story: When they start watching the videos.

Opinion about the main character: They were probably more resourceful than the other guests which is why they survived.
