Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Varsity Blues

In a small Texas town called West Caanan, football rules the city and its inhabitants. Jon Moxon (Van Der Beek) struggles with his identity as an 'intellectual being,' while the rest of his friends are focused on football. Throughout the movie, Moxon stuggles with this while romancing a current love (Amy Smart) and dealing with typical 'teen' issues. The goal of the Coyotes is to please Bud Kilmer (Voight) and help him obtain his 23 district championships. Moxon is the back-up quarterback and gets thrown into the limelight when his friend is injured.   In the end, Moxon defeats Coach Kilmer, who's a racist arrogant man, becomes a hero and acheives his dream of going to Brown University.
