Lila Herriton (Mirren), a veddy rich British widow, travels to Italy, where she falls for and marries an Italian dentist. The Herritons view this as a disastrous match, for not only is the dentist from a lower social stratum, but he's also quite a bit younger than his new wife. Lila, however, is supremely happy, for she is in the throes of passion and romance for the first time in her life.
