Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Wreck-It Ralph

This animation movie is about a fantasy world where the characters of video games come to life after the video game parlor is closed for the night. They can transport from one machine to another using the electrical system and take subway-like cars that ride down the inner pathways of the electrical cords. The main character Ralph has the voice of John C. Reilly. Ralph's job in his video game is to destroy all the things built up by the good-guy character called Fix-it Felix (who has the voice of Jack McBrayer). Fix-it Felix is the hero of that video game, who overcomes all of Ralph's destructive efforts to win the game. Fix-it Felix is celebrated by the other characters in the video game as a hero. Ralph is not really a bad guy at heart. He is just forced to destroy everything as part of his job. Because of this nobody wants to be his friend. He is very lonely. He tries to visit other video game characters but because of his size and immense strength all he does is accidently smash up everything, everywhere he goes.

Ralph attends a self-help group called Bad-Anon where he complains that he is tired of doing the same bad things, but cannot find a way to stop. The other bad guys, from different video games, tell him it is the programming and there is really nothing he can do about it, so he might as well accept his fate.

A new video game machine is introduced into the arcade. It is a military shooting-type game and it gives a hero medal prize for the winner. Ralph sneaks into the game, puts on a combat military uniform and helmet that hides his identity entirely He enters the game as one of the storm troopers under the command of the sergeant (who has the voice of Jane Lynch). Ralph comes very close to becoming the hero in the game, but falls short. Instead of becoming a hero as he desires so much, he sets in motion an enemy attack of Cy-bugs that can destroy all the video games in the parlor. This means that all the arcade games are at risk of being shut down and unplugged, to be replaced if they start malfunctioning.

The game that is most at risk of this happening is the one Ralph is supposed to be in, because Ralph has left his post to invade other games. When Ralph is missing from his game, this creates a real problem when the arcade is open because Ralph's game malfunctions when played by a human boy and the arcade maintenance man wants to shut it down permanently.

Ralph does eventually save the day, with the help of a very sweet, but also mischievous, character called Vanellope von Schweetz (who has the voice of Sarah Silverman) that comes from the Sugar Rush game. Vanellope gets Ralph to be in a big race with her to win the hero medal because she does not follow the rules. The reason Vanellope can change all the game outcomes is she is a programming glitch.

Best part of story, including ending: The retro feel of this story is very cool and nostalgic. It is both a movie for kids and also for adults that remember enjoying video games in arcades from this historical era.

Best scene in story: I really like the scene with Calhoun, who is the sergeant barking orders with the voice of Jane Lynch at the cyber soldiers in the video game. It is fun that this character is so tough with a female voice.

Opinion about the main character: Ralph is the big tough guy who underneath is soft as a teddy bear. It is great he finds a way to change his fate and become a better person(character) because of this.
