It's time to elect student officers, and though Charlie Brown briefly considers winning, the race develops between Linus and another kid named Russell. Charlie Brown and Lucy serve as Linus's campaign staff, with some help from Snoopy and Woodstock. Linus runs into trouble in the campaign with pressures on him to do things he probably cannot do once in office. He also learns that making a speech about the Great Pumpkin can ruin a candidate's credibility. This first aired as "You're Elected, Charlie Brown" during the Nixon-McGovern campaign of 1972, and includes one of Vince Guaraldi's most memorable jazz compositions, "Joe Cool."
