Rob Lowe stars as Dean Youngblood, an American rookie who gets a shot to play on a Canadian Junior League hockey team.

He is great at skating and stick handling, but needs some help when it comes to fighting.
Teammate Derek Sutton (Patrick Swayze) takes Youngblood under his wing and tries to teach him to be a tough hockey player.
As he plays, Youngblood has to deal with pressures at home and well as criticism from his new girlfriend, who happens to be the coach's daughter who disapproves of fighting.
Youngblood quits the team but must face his fears after he learns a goon from another team critically injuries Sutton in a game.
He must come back to the team and try to win the championship, as well as settle a few scores on the ice.
