A normal goose girl becomes gifted with wealth and the rulers of different kingdoms want her, leading to a journey through the land. The King kills Alexandria's canary.

From the tower she's trapped in, she asks him why he did it and receives a false answer. She asks if his subjects would miss him and he replies negatively. To get rid of him, she lies that Prince Edmund of Dorloo is coming but turns out to be true.
Both the King and Prince of neighbouring kingdoms are courting her. She doesn't want the king because he's a terrible man and the prince is boring.
In a flashback, her situation is revealed. Before she became a beautiful girl, she was a goose girl. She owned 12 geese and one day, while pretending they were at formal dinner party at her cottage, a hag joins them.
The hag takes the food and drink in a manner Alexandria thinks is rude. She is given three wishes for being ‘kind' to the hag: to become as beautiful as the dawn, her hair can drop gold dust and her tears become diamonds.
In the beginning, she thought it amazing and five days later, the Prince and King came to her cottage, demanding her hand in marriage. She packs the silken geese gowns, transformed from grass by the hag, and their crowns as a keepsake as she thinks they are dead now.
She tries to delay the decision by unpicking her wedding dress at night and gets caught. Now she is watched day and night. One day, the maids leave the door open and she steals a sheet from the clothesline.
Suddenly, her geese return and rescue her from the tower using the sheets. Unfortunately, the king's army closes in and an arrow hits Little Echo's wing as they fly. Eventually, the land in a clearing with a cottage and the geese panic when she enters the cottage.
It belongs to a three headed Ogress who want to eat her but she negotiates and says she can cook for them. They tie her up by her hair since Tessa realises she has enchanted hair that can grow and grow.
One day, they bring a man in a sack home, wanting to eat him. Alexandria tricks them by putting a saddle in their soup and releases the horse. The man in the sack is the Prince, who was searching for her. She keeps him alive by tricking the Ogress and meanwhile, makes him promise to leave her alone after all of this. He agrees and suggests she politely ask the hair to grow back to normal so they can escape.
Alexandria doesn't have patience for Edmund.
They do and the Ogress comes after them. The sun rises, turning the Ogress into stone. Edmund searches for food and shoots Little Echo. The geese return. Alexandria is upset and Edmund constantly apologizes. He also mentions the geese led him to her.
The geese suddenly fly away and soldiers enter the area. It is the King's men – they are still on his land - and both are caught but lie about their identity. It turns out the King is about to take over the Prince's land. He is horrified since his father is sick.
They are brought to the Baroness and Alexandria tries to save Edmund by lying about their situation. Edmund won't have it and tells the truth. They, as well as Little Echo, are kept as prisoners at the King's castle after Alexandria reveals her true name.
She's put in a cell in the ground and escapes by growing her hair up until the ladder. She searches for both of them and breaks them out of their cell after releasing Smeatt, the soldier who initially captured them. He's not incredibly intelligent.
They find a boat and go downstream. Before Smeatt leaves them, they become aware of why he was imprisoned – he was supposed to kill young girls and a lady years ago but couldn't. He left them at the edge of Dorloo.
Since capture, Alexandria has come across a ruby crown, necklace and finally, Smeatt gives her a ring. They are captured once again and Edmund tells her about the previous King, who was brutally killed and that his family escaped. His father has died.
Once brought to the King, he sends the Baroness becomes her maid and to help with wedding preparations. The geese return once again. The Baroness says a hag gave her a potion for Alexandria and she's to drink it before the wedding. She warns not to tell the King her true name.
During the ceremony, the wine is consumed and the Baroness falls ill since Alexandria swapped wine glasses. The geese force Alexandria to wear the crown, ring and necklace.
Afterwards, her geese turn into beautiful ladies. Edmund and Smeatt, who freed Edmund, come out of their hiding place with a young lady holding Edmund's arm. Alexandria pulls her off.
The hag comes into court and turns the Baroness and the King into crows. She tells Alexandria that she had to collect the jewels before being able to restore her family's place. It's revealed that the Baroness wanted Alexandria dead, which is why she warned her not to tell the King her name. Otherwise, the King would guard her life constantly since she would give him legitimacy. Ernestina, the eldest and rightful Queen, recalled why this all happened.
After their family escaped, none of the daughters helped their poor mother, especially since Alexandria was a baby needing constant attention. The former Queen wished her daughter were geese and it happened.
Ernestina is then crowned queen and Little Echo wants to flirt with Edmund. Alexandria, finally having feelings for him, refuses and plans to marry him.

The story is simple and incredibly sarcastic, almost being a parody of princess fairy tales.

The best scene(s) is whenever Alexandria speaks with Edmund as her sarcasm is at its highest.
Opinion about the main character:
Alexandria is outspoken and sarcastic, disliking the nuisances around her. She lets people know she wants to be without attention.
"Goose Chase" is about a poor goosegirl named Alexandria Aurora Fortunato who, by a sudden turn of events, becomes drop-dead gorgeous. Now that gold falls from her hair, and her tears turn into diamonds, she is locked up in a tower by two rivals determined to marry her: King Claudio the Cruel and Prince Edmund of Dorloo.
Alexandria manages to escape with the help of her noble geese, but this is only the beginning of her hectic adventures. Will Alexandria ever escape her obssesed captors and return to a normal life?
