Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Three Men and a Baby

Three men and a baby is a comedy about a bunch of young bachelors whose daily routine is suddenly interrupted by the arrival of an unusual package. Peter, Michel and Jack live together in a big fancy apartment. They like women but they hate commitment, so they feel free to have one night stands, open relationships and to date casually as they please. Peter celebrates his birthday and he throws a big party. He is an accomplished architect and he dates a woman named Rebecca. Michel is an artist and Jack is a womanizer who stars in different movies and commercials and he is about to live for Turkey to shoot his next movie. Paul Milner is Jack's former producer. He approaches Peter and he asks him to receive an important package for him and keep the respective package for the next few days until some guys will come to his apartment and pick it up. Peter agrees and then he forgets all about Paul's secret package.

Next morning Peter opens the apartment door and he finds a baby girl sleeping in a basket. He freaks out and he calls his roommate Michel. They start pointing at the basket and nudging each other to pick up the baby and they make the most hilarious faces one can ever imagine. They make such a fuss that the baby wakes up and starts crying. Michel and Peter bring the baby inside and they find a letter announcing that the little girl's name was Mary and that she was Jack's daughter. Peter remembers Paul Milner's request that he must receive and keep a strange package for him and he thinks that the baby is what Paul was talking about.

In the middle of all this commotion, the concierge brings Peter a small blue box and he puts it away because he is busy taking care of the baby.
The two men realize that they need baby food and diapers so Peter goes to the store. He finds out that there are hundreds of types of baby food and that he knows absolutely nothing about babies in general and about Mary in particular. He fills his bags with whatever he thinks fit and he heads home. Peter and Michel start taking care of the baby and they realize that they are in over their head. Peter asks his girlfriend to help him but she says she is too busy and that she knows nothing about babies anyway.

One day, two men show up at Peter's door and they tell him that they want to pick up the package. Peter puts the baby in the basket and he gives them the package. They seem utterly amazed that they are presented with a baby but they take Mary and leave the premises. In the mean time, Michel finds out the blue box and he opens it. He realizes that the box is filled with drugs and he tells Peter that they gave the men the wrong package. Peter runs out and he retrieves the baby. A police officer tells him that now he is a suspect of drug smuggling and he comes to the apartment and starts asking questions. Michel fills a diaper with drugs and he hides it away because he is afraid that the police officer will find them guilty of drug trafficking.

Michel and Peter must go to work so they ask Mrs. Hathaway to babysit for the day. They return home and they find out that Mrs. Hathaway was tied up and the apartment ransacked. They understand that the two men are still looking for their package.

Jack returns home and his roommates make him take care of his daughter. By now they are very fond of Mary and they can't imagine life without her.

Jack, Michel and Peter help the police in catching the drug dealers and they return to taking care of Mary. They take turns in feeding her and keeping her amused and they are very surprised when Silvia, Mary's mother shows up. Silvia is an English actress and she tells the guys that she wants to return to England and that she plans to take her daughter with her. They pack up Mary's things and they give her up to her mother. The guys realize that they can't live without Mary so they go to the airport to try and get their baby back. They can't find Silvia and they return home. They see that Silvia was waiting for them at the door and she tells them that she can't take care of Mary by herself. They tell Silvia that she is more than welcome to stay with them and she accepts.
Best part of story, including ending: This is a really funny movie and I liked it a lot. There is no profanity or nudity in this story. It is a decent old movie that can be watched with the children on a nice winter evening. Even if it's kind of a cliche that men can't take care of babies it was quite funny to watch the three guys struggling to perform the most basic their tasks required in feeding, cleaning and changing an infant.

Best scene in story: My favorite scene by far was the one where Peter tries to change a diaper. He brags about being an architect and being able to build skyscrapers and he is so sure that he can change the baby that he just can't realize that he is hopeless in this domain.

Opinion about the main character: I liked the guys a lot. They were funny and I couldn't find fault with them.
