|Plot Summary of Two for the Money|
Brandon Lang (McConaughey) loves sports, specifically football. He has made it to the final big college game and is looking forward to a professional career. On the final play, an injury ends his dreams, but he uses his knowledge and love of the game to successfully share his predictions via a Las Vegas 900 number all while keeping in shape in the hopes he will land a try-out.
One day six years later, the big call comes -- from Walter Abrams (Pacino), a "sports advisor." He offers Lang everything he could possibily imagine to work for him. Abrams is not all he appears to be. On the surface, he has a loving wife, a young daughter, and a thriving business. He also has heart problems, a host of addictions, and strong desire to manipulate everyone -- including those to whom he is the closest.
Abrams acts as a mentor to Lang, asking him to eventually develop a persona very different from his own. Abrams intimates that he wants a father-son relationship with the young man he is mentoring, but when Lang starts to lose his touch and Abrams his money, it appears the relationship may have been a con.
Memorable small roles for actors including Jeremy Piven (P.C.U., Cupid, et. al.), Gedde Watanabe (Sixteen Candles, Gung Ho, E.R.) , and Carly Pope (Popular).
