Hoot Book Summary and Study Guide

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Hoot

Roy Eberhardt just moved to Coconut Cove, Flordia. He begins getting bullied by Dana Matherson when he gets there. One day, Dana grabs Roy's throat on the school bus. Roy reacts by punching and breaking Dana's nose. Roy gets sent to the principle's office. Later, a pancake company wants to build a pancake house. Their plans are delayed due to acts of vandalism. Roy befriends Mullet Fingers, the boy who has been doing the vandalism. Roy finds out that Mullet Finger is doing the vandalism for a good cause. He is trying to stop the construction from happening because the bulldozers will kill the owls that live on the site where they want to build the pancake store. The construction site director denies the existence of the owls. Roy decides to help Mullet by giving a presentation in his class. He talks about the corrupt acts done by the pancake corporation and the existence of the birds. Roy, Mullet and other students attend the ground breaking for the pancake house construction and must stop the pancake corporation from killing the owls.
