Biopic on the life and times of Malcolm X. Starting out as a small time criminal, he gets convicted to a jail sentence. In jail he converts to islam and becomes aware of racial isssues, and the need to address those. When he gets out, he becomes a leader of the Nation of Islam movement. Because of a falling out with other leaders of the movement, he leaves the Nation of Islam and proceeds to fight for civil rights for African-Americans on his own. A hadj to Mecca, makes him change his mind about how to bring about the changes he deems necessary in that respect. He is assassinated in 1965.

Best part of story, including ending:
It's a story well-told, beautifully filmed and acted, but it's not a story to like or hate, because it is someone's life. This is how it was, what the reality of it was, back in the day.
Best scene in story:
The scene where Malcolm X (Denzel Washington) and his friend (Spike Lee) are walking down the street in the beginning of the movie, as they are going out for a night on the town. They way they are dressed, the silly walk they do. They are going to have a good time, that's for sure.
Opinion about the main character:
He fought for civil rights, even if it killed him. He was one of the leaders of the civil rights movement, who brought about a sense of awareness, a sensitivity to the subject, and some real changes towards equal rights.
