Detailed plot synopsis reviews of The Way Back

'The Way Back' is a war movie based on the book 'The Long Walk' (1955), written by Slawomir Rawicz. The movie is directed by Peter Weir and released in 2010. It's true story. Janusz (Jim Sturgess) a young Polish officer during World war 2, held and interrogated by the NKVD. He is sent in prison for 20 years in a labor camp, Siberia. In there he meets an American engineer Mr. Smith (Ed Harris), Russian criminal Valka (Colin Farrell), a Latvian priest, a Polish suffering from blindness; and some others. They all start to plan an escape, south to Mongolia. At Lake Baikal, they meet Irena (Saoirse Ronan), a Polish girl who later dies in the desert. On the border between the Soviet and Mongolia, Valka (Collin Farrell) decides to stay back, as he still loves Russia. India is the closest refuge place for them. On the Himalayas, all on the edge of death, they are rescued and taken care by a Tibetan monk. At last, three of them are able to reach India.

Best part of story, including ending: The film is based on a true war story. It's a movie combined with thriller and drama. I like it.

Best scene in story: When the young Polish girl dies in the desert and they bury her. I nearly cried.

Opinion about the main character: The main character of the film is so determined to return to his home. His determination encouraged me.
