Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs

Manny the Mammoth is preparing to have his first child with his wife Ellie. He is overwhelming neurotic that the world is too dangerous to bring a child into. Sid the Sloth is jealous that he too isn't a father and brings three eggs out of a strange cave, calling them his children. Diego the Sabretooth, meanwhile, worries that he has become domesticated by his friends and is no longer the tough warrior from the first film. When Sid's eggs hatch and reveal baby T-rexes, the young dinosaurs begin trashing the world Manny has set up for his child. To make matters even worse, the mama T-rex arrives, grabs her children, and accidentally takes Sid away with her. Manny, Ellie, Diego, and their possum friends Crash and Eddie, follow the T-rex into the cave where Sid found the eggs in the first place. The cave leads them to an incredible overgrown jungle, in which dinosaurs, assumed to all be dead, roam freely. With the help of a weasel named Buck, who has been driven to the brink of sanity living amongst the dinosaurs for years, they set off into the wilderness to attempt to find Sid and bring him home safely. However, since dangerous creatures lurk around every turn, Manny is terrified for Ellie's well-being. When an earthquake separates Manny from Ellie, and Ellie goes into labor, Diego goes back to protect her, while Manny must find the courage to trust his child will be okay and save his friend.

Best part of story, including ending: The tone of the film is so light and funny, and the characters are so endearing, that it's impossible to hate this film. The animation in this entry is also by far the best in the series.

Best scene in story: The closing action sequence, involving flying dinosaurs and the impending arrival of Ellie's baby, is about as exciting as action in a children's movie can get.

Opinion about the main character: Manny is a worrywart, but he worries about reasonable things. His love for his wife and unborn child make him instantly likable.
