Denzel Washington stars as a tetraplegic forensics expert Lincoln Rhyme. He was paralyzed from the neck down in a car accident and is bed stricken relying on the aid of his nurse Thelma (played by Queen Latifah) to function. He partners with a patrol cop Amelia Donaghy (played by Angelina Jolie) and they attempt to solve a string of homicides all linked to a certain serial killer who has a unique signature. Which is, he removes a single shared bone from each of his victims.

The killer uses the guise of being a taxi driver, and then kills the passengers he picks up. His first victims are a married couple followed by an NYU student. Amelia is able to connect the crimes from clues left at the scene including the missing piece of bone that the killer removed from the victims. Other clues lead Amelia and Rhyme to a crime novel which contains stories that the killer seems to be replicating. Eventually the killer is exposed and is linked to Rhyme but will Amelia be able to deduce that the killer is really after Rhyme.
Best part of story, including ending:
I liked the fact that the paralyzed cop wasn't the hero. He had to rely on the help of his partner. It added realism.
Best scene in story:
When Amelia sees numbers which represent Rhyme's badge number.
Opinion about the main character:
I liked her intelligence, She was able to link the crimes and deduce who the killer was before everyone else.
