Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Moonrise Kingdom

Sam, a young orphan, is part of a Khaki Scout troop staying at a camp, Camp Ivanhoe, on a small island off the coast of New England in 1965. While there the year before, he snuck away frequently from the pack to explore, and one night, he met Suzy, a smart young girl who lives on the island with her lawyer parents. They became pen pals from that day forward, and planned to run away together the next summer. Returning to the present, Sam escapes from his camp site, meets Suzy, and they run off, carrying little else than some camping supplies, books, and Suzy's record player. Their disappearance concerns both Suzy's parents and Scout Master Randy, and the Khaki Scouts head out after them. However, when Suzy stabs one of the Scouts with scissors, they enlist the help of local police captain Duffy, who's been secretly having an affair with Suzy's mother. Sam and Suzy set up a tent on the shore of the beach in a secluded little cove, and they begin to kiss and explore their sexuality. Once found by Duffy, Social Services is called, where they promise to lock away Sam and electroshock him into good behavior. The other Khaki Scouts have a change of heart and decide to help Sam escape his captors and assist him in running away with Suzy forever. After stealing a boat from Camp Ivanhoe, they set off, the adults hot in pursuit. But can they avoid being found forever, especially when a deadly storm is headed right for them?

Best part of story, including ending: It's such a winning representation of young love, with two young smart misfits sharing great chemistry and all of the adults acting like children around them.

Best scene in story: Sam and Suzy's first sexual experiences are really boldly executed, with a tenderness and honesty not normally seen in a comedy such as this.

Opinion about the main character: Sam has been dealt a bad hand by the world, and Suzy is the one thing that brings him happiness. It's easy to root for them to succeed in their plan.
