Sin City Movie Review Summary

Actors: Bruce Willis, Jessica Alba, Benicio del Toro, Brittany Murphy

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Sin City

Frank Miller's SIN CITY comic was gritty, but this film adaptation is amazing! The movie follows several story lines including a cop, an assassin, an accused murderer who recently changed his face, and a big soft hearted brute looking for revenge. In the accused murderer's timeline, Dwight has recently come back into town and is visiting his girlfriend Shelly. Unfortunately, Shelly gets a visit from a low life prick named Jacky Boy who loves hurting women. When Dwight finds Jacky Boy taking a piss, he attacks him and warns him to leave Shelly alone for good. Jacky Boy freaks out and leaves. Dwight reassures Shelly that he'll stop Jacky Boy and jumps out the window to makes moves. Shelly yells a crucial warning, but he doesn't hear it because of the helicopters flying above the building.

Dwight digs a hole that he may not be able to get out of in this twisted little story...and this is only ONE of the storylines!
Best part of story, including ending: It had crazy graphics and some really dark plots.

Best scene in story: When Dwight shoves Jacky Boy's head in the toilet it's great because he gets exactly what he deserves. He is now both figuratively and literally full of shit!

Opinion about the main character: He is insane, yet still has a sense of right and wrong.

The movie is divided into four main chapters, each following diferent people involved in the same crime.

In part one we meet two cops. Hartigan is tough but has a heart condition, and his partner Bob tries to stop him from racing to a crime scene where a little girl is in mortal danger. Hartigan knocks Bob out and goes anyway, arriving in time to rescue the victim from the villanous Junior. However Bob arrives shortly after and shoots Hartigan, revealing that Bob is corrupt and working with Junior's senator father to protect him.

Part two follows the brutish but extremely moral Marv. An ugly man, he is surprised when a beautiful woman approaches and seduces him. The next day he wakes up beside her dead body and realizes it is a set up. He flees and tries to solve her murder, and in turn find out why and by whom he has been framed.

Part Three is about the confrontation between two men. Jackie Boy is a thug and criminal who used to date Shellie. Dwight is her new boyfriend. After Jackie Boy and his pals show up at Shellie's apartment a confrontation ensues, and Dwight knows they are going to Old Town to abuse prostitutes and decides to prevent them from doing so. Soon he discovers that not only can the working girls defend themselves, but Jackie Boy is actually a cop. Dwight then finds himself in the middle of a bloody turf war.

Part four comes back to Hartigan. After the confrontation with Junior, he survives and the senator uses his influence to send him to prison for Junior's crimes. While in prison he is in solitary confinement for not confessing to the crimes. But he is comforted by letters from the girl he saved, Nancy. When the letters suddenly stop, he knows he has to find out if she is okay and he is released after confessing. Since Nancy has been keeping her location secret, for fear of Junior finding her again, he must use his rusty detective skills to find her and keep her safe.
Best part of story, including ending: The story was too gruesome and exploitative, but the visuals are great.

Best scene in story: I liked the Rosario Dawson's action sequences.

Opinion about the main character: Hartigan is a bit over the top as the suffering, noble, sacrificing everything cop
