Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Gone

Jill Conway (Amanda Seyfried )and her sister Molly (Emily Wickersham) share a home in Portland, Oregon. Jill is a former kidnapping victim, abducted the year before by a serial killer who placed her into a deep hole in Forest Park. Finding human remains at the site, Jill uses a bone to stab her abductor and escape; however, when the police are unable to locate this hole in the park, they begin to discredit Jill's sanity. Looking into her life, the police learn that Jill had been sent to a psychiatric facility after the deaths of her parents, further adding to their belief that she is insane and the abduction did not occur anywhere but in her head.

Now, Jill is free from the psychiatric facility and working as a waitress where she is friends with Sharon (Jennifer Carpenter). After working the graveyard shift at the diner, Jill is panicked upon arriving home to find her sister missing. She immediately knows something is wrong as Molly was set to take an exam the next day and specifically asked Jill to wake her in time. A check with Molly's boyfriend reveals that Jill did not take the exam and her whereabouts are unknown. Jill is immediately convinced that the serial killer that had taken her, the year before, was back to get revenge against her in a more personal way.

Knowing the police were not likely to believe her, Jill begins her own mission to find the serial killer. A quick check with neighbors unveils that a locksmith's van was located near the home around the time Molly was last seen. Jill tracks down the driver, Nick, and learns he loaned the van to a stranger "Digger" that night. After learning that Digger is actually Jim LaPointe, a customer at the diner, she breaks into his hotel room and locates the same duct tape and pet food she was given during her own abduction.

Then, Jill's search for her sister and the serial killer abductor intensifies as it is clear that Molly is in grave danger, whether the authorities believe her or not.
Best part of story, including ending: This movie was very suspenseful and actually surprised me because it did keep me guessing and unsure as to what would happen next. There are a lot of twists and turns throughout the film.

Best scene in story: My favorite scene was near the end of the movie when the detectives are sent a package with instructions on where to find the hole where Jill was kept. Not a fan of bad police work, I cheered the fact that the authorities had to admit that they had wrongfully judged Jill when she had been honest with them all along.

Opinion about the main character: Jill is a strong character of conviction. She cares about family and I got the sense that she stands up for her beliefs, regardless of others' opinions. In many ways, I share a name with the character and saw many attributes of my own life in her.
