Mirror Mirror Movie Review Summary

Actors: Julia Roberts, Lily Collins, Armie Hammer, Nathan Lane

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Mirror Mirror

This is a modernized version of the classic fairy tale with many liberal creative changes to the storyline. The characters are familiar. The evil Queen is played by Julia Roberts. Snow White is Lily Collins. Armie Hammer is the handsome Prince. Nathan Lane is very silly as Brighton, the Queen's servant. There are the dwarfs but they have funny new names like Chuckles instead of the traditional name of Happy and Butcher instead of Grumpy. Snow White's father, the King (played by Sean Bean) doesn't show up until the end as he has been turned into a monster beast by the Queen using her magic.

The King being gone, Snow White lives with the Queen in the palace. Since her 18th birthday is coming up Snow White wants to go to a ball. But the Queen refuses her and sends her back to her room. Meanwhile in the woods, the Prince and his valet are robbed by dwarfs using stilts to disguise how short they really are. This is revealed and the Prince laughs but he is robbed of everything nevertheless. Snow White escapes the castle and finds the Prince hanging upside down in a tree wearing only his underwear. She immediately falls in love with him. But the Prince will not follow her and marches off in a different direction. Snow White goes to the town and sees all the people suffering from the rule of the Queen. The Prince finds his way to the castle where he meets the Queen. She decides she will throw a ball to impress him so she can marry him.

Snow White returns to the castle, finds out about the ball, crashes it, and to her surprise she sees the Prince there. They dance. It is obvious they like each other which upsets the Queen. The Queen tells her servant Brighton to take Snow White to the woods and feed her to the beast to get rid of her. He takes her there, but let's her free instead, then returns to the palace to tell the Queen, falsely, that Snow White is dead. Snow White finds the dwarfs in the forest and stays with them.

The Queen gives the Prince a love potion that makes him act like a puppy that follows her around licking her all over. The dwarfs capture the Prince. They get Snow White to kiss him to break the spell which it does. He falls in love with Snow White once again. The Queen sends the beast to attack, but instead of killing it, Snow White removes a magical necklace from its neck. This allows the beast to turn back into the King, Snow White's father and causes the Queen to suddenly get very old. Snow White and the Prince get married and the Queen comes to the wedding as an old woman offering an apple as her gift to the bride.
Best part of story, including ending: This film is a farce; a comedy about the classic fairy tale with no constraints on plot changes, mixing old style costumes with modern slang and new sight gags. It's totally crazy.

Best scene in story: When the Queen puts the Prince under a magic spell that turns him into a puppy and he starts licking her and sniffing all the people in inappropriate places.

Opinion about the main character: Snow White is the fairest of them all, and it is her charm and wit that allows her to defeat the evil queen.
