This cute little story follows the life of a woman named Venus. It is not your average "urban novel". Venus has the life most women envy. Her career is on point, she has the most beautiful hair (long and straightened), and to top it all off, her doctor boyfriend Clint has recently moved in. The only issue is that Clint has given her everything she wants...EXCEPT a ring.

In a very risky move, she decides that enough is enough. Venus chops off her long, beautiful permed hair. Unfortunately, her "perfect" boyfriend basically calls her ugly for doing so and she drops him. Equipped with a new natural hairstyle and confidence, Venus is now a single woman on the go. Of course, there are bumps along the way. Eventually, she starts to regret everything. She second guesses herself and wonders what her life could have been. Venus has to make a decision between sticking with her new life or going back to her old ways (and relationship) when she finds out that her ex has moved on from her and is making plans to marry the new chick. They still flirt with the idea of a secret rendezvous, but now Venus needs to pick what her future will be.
Best part of story, including ending:
I liked how the main character developed in the book. She really started to love herself instead of just try to be what everyone else expected.
Best scene in story:
Although it was messed up, I liked the scene where Clint sees her hair for the first time after she goes natural.
Opinion about the main character:
I enjoyed how she was so vulnerable & real.
