Detailed plot synopsis reviews of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

When it's revealed that a weapons developer named James McCullen has created the deadliest weapon known to man-- a bomb that releases nanobots, which destroy everything in their path until the bomber throws a kill switch-- the government must be especially careful in transporting the nanobot-filled warheads. They hire a troop of NATO soldiers, led by tough guy Duke and jokester Ripcord, but their entire group is massacred by a sneak attack, led by a woman that Duke recognizes as his former fiancee. Luckily, Duke and Ripcord are saved from execution by a squadron of special soldiers known as Joes: Scarlett, a sexy redhead; Snake Eyes, a silent ninja; Heavy Duty, a muscular warrior; and Breaker, a computer and electronics expert. The Joes take Duke and Ripcord back to their secret base for interrogation, but Duke and Ripcord have seen enough-- they want to be a part of the Joes team. Their leader, General Hawk, is reluctant, but after some vigorous testing and training, Duke and Ripcord are allowed to become official Joes. Meanwhile, we learn that McCullen is actually in charge of stealing his own weapons back from the government, and he's planning on using them with the help of his cohorts, a terrorist group known as COBRA. After COBRA unleashes one of the bombs in Paris, it annihilates the Eiffel Tower and much of the surrounding area before Duke is able to hit the kill switch. However, in his attempt to stop the nanobots, he is captured by COBRA and taken hostage. He learns that McCullen has three more bombs, ready to attack major cities all over the world. It's up to Duke to escape, contact the Joes, and help them to stop COBRA's evil plan.

Best part of story, including ending: This is a fun action movie, simple and plain. There are plenty of witty one-liners, plenty of explosions and fight scenes, and plenty of special effects that should entertain.

Best scene in story: Duke and Ripcord at one point wear suits that enable them to move extra fast, and watching the two guys dart at top speed all around the streets of Paris is great fun.

Opinion about the main character: Duke really doesn't have much personality, but he's a muscular guy with some funny one-liners and a penchant for doing the right thing, so he's easy to root for.
