"Evan Almighty" starts off with Evan Baxter getting into congress. He was a popular local entertainer (news) and after being elected, he has a moral dilemma about whether to sell out in his new political role. God (Morgan Freeman) comes to him to help him and tells him to build an arc for a flood. It is insane and of course, he has no faith...and his wife definitely has no faith in this idea. But, somehow, the materials for the arc get delivered without him ordering anything. And his alarm goes off at the wrong time no matter what he sets it for. AND he grows this beard he can't get rid of. AND SOMEHOW A BUNCH OF LAND IS PURCHASED IN HIS NAME!

Maybe God is trying to tell him something.

Finally, he gives in to the idea and starts working towards his purpose as the modern-day Noah from the Old Testament. The ending is worth the heavy handed humor.
Best part of story, including ending: I liked that his sons supported his crazy idea to build a huge boat.

Best scene in story: My favorite scene was when the animals started helping build the arc. It was cute and made my kid smile.

Opinion about the main character: I liked that the main character initially had strong morals.
