Penryn lives in a post-apocalyptic world where angels have invaded the Earth and are destroying civilization gradually. When Penryn, her crippled sister and their possibly schizophrenic mother attempt to flee their home, they witness a group of angels tearing another angel's wings off. Penryn and the injured angel, Raffe become unlikely allies when Penryn's sister is kidnapped by one of the angels. Penryn's only hope in saving her sister is Raffe, the badly injured angel who desperately wants his wings back. But there is more trouble brewing in the angel world as some of the angels are turning against their own kind. Meanwhile, a group of human rebels are biding their time, waiting for the perfect opportunity to attack their attackers who took away their homes and families from them.

Best part of story, including ending:
The story, although not entirely unique, is enjoyable to read. Susan Ee does a good job at fleshing out the characters and describing the post-apocalyptic world.
Best scene in story:
My favorite scene is when Penryn and Raffe visit the angel lair, when the reader begins to understand the chaos happening in the angel world.
Opinion about the main character:
Penryn is, to put it simply, a badass. She is fiercely protective of her sister and although she feels a passive hatred towards her mother, she isn't willing to give up on her either. She knows how to take care of herself and those around her.
