Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Arthur Christmas

This is a modern adaptation of the story of Santa. Arthur (with the voice of James McAvoy) is Santa's son. He is at the north pole for Christmas Eve when Santa makes his worldwide trip in a single night to deliver all the toys to all the kids of earth. The parameters of the fantastic trip are orchestrated by a complex scientific system that is run by Arthur's older brother Steve with the help of thousands of elves hidden at the North Pole while Arthur is reduced to answering all the letters from children around the world addressed to Santa.

Steve has positioned himself to be the next in line to replace Santa, but Santa still has a few more Christmas seasons left before he is willing to give up the title to Steve. This frustrates Steve immensely. Arthur only cares about the children. When a single package gets diverted, Arthur uses this to fight for the right thing to make sure anyone in the role of Santa is there for the correct reason.

While they fight over the missing present, it becomes very apparent who has the correct Christmas spirit and who is fighting for the rights of the children to enjoy the Christmas holidays. Steve argues for the example that one single missed gift is of no consequence, but Arthur defeats his argument saying every desire of every child is equally important. In the end it comes down to the final showdown of whether Steve or Arthur has the ability to give a gift to a single child.
Best part of story, including ending: It is not set in stone whether good or bad wins. A lot depends on the intentions of the participants and whether or not they are personally sincere. This is really wonderful.

Best scene in story: When Arthur finds support for his position and all the others rally behind him, this scene is really exciting.

Opinion about the main character: Arthur is weak, even stupid, but in the end he rises to the occasion to proves that good triumphs over evil.
