A black woman is ready for a change but did not expect to fall for her blind date, who is white. Kenya is a successful black woman who is in total control of her life. In fact, her friends think she is too in control and needs to mix up her lovelife. She is set up on a blind date with Brian, a landscaper, but backs out when she sees that he's white. The two bump into each other again, and seeing Brian's work on the gardens, hires him to work on her yard. Soon she becomes attracted to him despite negative reactions from some friends and family. Giving in to pressure, she is set up with a handsome black guy Nelson, who her brother thinks is more suitable for her. No matter how perfect Nelson is, sparks do not fly, unlike with Brian. Brian doesn't give up pursuing her, and Kenya finally follows her heart to be with him.

Best part of story, including ending:
I like seeing Kenya be more comfortable in her own skin and learn to let loose and just go with things.
Best scene in story:
When Brian dons a mariachi outfit and serenades Kenya.
Opinion about the main character:
Kenya seems very modern, but not modern enough to date someone white.
