This is the story of a young boy with cancer who loves to write and writes many letters to God. Tyler Doherty (Tanner Maguire) is a boy who is 8 years old. He has cancer. He really likes to write and he writes a lot of letters to God. Walter Finley (the postman) brings the letters back to the post office. Walter's boss sees the letters and tells Walter to do something with them.

Shortly after, Walter leaves for a long vacation. Brady McDaniels (Jeffrey Johnson), an alcoholic, takes his spot for the mean time. Brady goes to the Bar and Grill a lot. He has good relationship with the bartender, Jack. During Brady's first day as a postman, Mrs. Baker's dog bites him and he doesn't understand the letters to God that he picks up from Tyler's house.
After having two months worth of brain tumor surgery and radiation, Tyler goes back to school. Not only has Tyler's family dealt with his cancer but Tyler's father also died. When Tyler goes back to school he gets teased by Alex for having no hair. Samantha Perryfield (Bailee Madison) is Tyler's friend and she stands up for him and shoves Alex's face in food. Then Alex and Samantha get brought to the principal's office.
Tyler keeps writing letters to God. Brady keeps coming to get them. Brady wants to give them to a church however the pastor thinks he should hold onto them. Brady opens them up and it shows him that he can change his life around. Brady starts to connect with the Doherty household. Mrs. Doherty reads the letter that made her be a better mom and then goes to get Tyler's older brother a drivers license. Ben, the older brother, acts like he is selfish. Tyler lets his friend Sam know that he doesn't want his brother to be mad at him. Alex realizes that Tyler really likes soccer and wants to give him a soccer ball that says "Get Well". Brady, Alex, and Sam go to see Tyler when he is at the hospital.
After awhile, Tyler is done with his chemotherapy and leaves the hospital. The nurses tell Tyler's mom that he is still weak. The coach of the soccer team wants Tyler to play and Brady talks him into being the goalkeeper. When the game is over, Tyler faints. Tyler's mom blames Brady but later says she is sorry. They find out that Brady has a DUI and was in jail. Brady's son was also taken away due to his alcoholism. Brady changes his ways and gets rid of his bottles of alcohol. Tyler does pass away when he is home. Sam makes a mailbox for God dedicated to Tyler.

I really liked this story because Tyler had a lot of strength to go through life with cancer even as a young boy. He stayed faithful to his friends and family through his illness.
Best scene in story:
My favorite scene was when Sam pushed Alex's face into the food to protect Tyler. This showed that she was a true friend.
Opinion about the main character:
I really liked that Tyler was strong, after the passing away of his father and through his own cancer. Even though he was really sick he still played what he enjoyed. He didn't give up.
