Detailed plot synopsis reviews of The Secret Life Of Bees

An abused girl runs away with her nanny and lives with a family of beekeepers. Lilly's mom is dead and she blames herself because her mom was trying to protect her from her abusive father. She and her black nanny Rosaleen leave the house looking for more answers about her mother's past. With a picture of a black Virgin Mary, they are led to a beekeeper farm run by three black sisters, August, June, and May. The sisters take them in and they live on the farm, learning about beekeeping. Lily doesn't reveal the true reason for their stay there, but unknown to her, August knows her intentions. Lily likes a black boy Zach, and one day on a movie date, Zach is kidnapped by racists. May, who is mentally unstable from her twin sister's death in the past, takes this hard, and commits suicide. Lily feels that she is to blame for most unfortunate events that follow her, August comforts her and tells her about how much her mother loved her, and shows her things from her mom's past. One day, Lily's dad shows up causing a commotion, demanding that Lily come home. The sisters defend her and tell him to get lost, that they are now her caregivers. Lily and Rosaleen stay with the sisters and experience a loving family.
