Wolfsbane Book Summary and Study Guide

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Wolfsbane

Calla Tor wakes up in a place she doesn't know. When a man comes through the door of her room and when he does Calla turns into a wolf. The man that came in the room was Monroe, Monroe is actually a searcher, who fights the Keepers who have raised Calla. Calla is actually an Alpha wolf who escaped from the keepers with another wolf known as shay. Monroe asks Calla to join the searchers in a war that is about to take place between the searchers and the keepers. After Calla calms down they go to the library and that is where Calla finds Shay. After the reuniting of Calla and Shay, Calla finds out that she has been unconscious for a week.

After Monroe tells Calla and Shay what the mission is for right then, Calla agrees to join the searchers. The mission is to save the rest of her pack from the Keepers. But in that time Shay finds out he is a scion. A scion is the only one that can hold the elemental cross swords. If anyone else tries to hold them it burns them.
After Calla finds all of that information out, she tells the searchers everything she knows about the keepers as they set up a plan of attack to get her pack back to safety. Calla finds out the searchers know more about the keepers and Vail than she realized. All because the searchers have a spy in the school and one in the city. The searchers tell Calla they have to hurry because Vail is in another time zone than where the Roving Academy is, that they are at. Right then the Roving Academy is in Iowa.
Calla learns that they way the searchers travel is by portal, but the keepers cannot travel that way. The reason the keepers cannot travel by portal is because they use dark magic. But the searchers only use magic connected to the earth, known as white magic.

As they made the portal and go through it, Calla and the searchers end up fighting six wolves who are nightshades. Nightshades are the older wolves who only patrol at night. But now are patrolling during the day. After getting back without finding any of Calla's pack Shay finds out that the person that raised him known as Bosque Mar, is actually not a relative of his, but a very high keeper.
The only reason Shay was being raised by Bosque was because the keepers killed his parents. Shay finds out that his mother was human and his father was a keeper, who portrayed the keepers. On top of that Calla learns that the wolf she was supposed to become mates with is actually spared his life when his mother was killed. His mother was killed for trying to plan an escape with a searcher to free herself of the keepers.

After a few days of trying to figure out how to go about saving the others, Ansel shows up after Ethan shoots him with bolt arrows. Ansel is Calla's brother and part of her pack. So when Calla goes to Ansel and lets him drink from her and he heals, Calla finds out that Ansel is no longer a wolf because the keepers killed it in him.

Ansel tells all the searchers and Calla what is going on with the pack after Calla escaped, only to decide that they need to do a suicide mission to save the pack that is left and fast. Ansel tells Calla that because she left with Shay that their mother was killed by the keepers, that Ren was being torchered all hours of the night because he helped them escape. Also Ansel was torn from his wolf.
After they set a time to do the suicide mission at dawn, they end up at the prison and it seems to be way to quiet. After Calla and the searchers get Mason, Nav, Sabine, and Bryn, Calla realizes that they are being watched by a gargoral, so after a searcher shoots it there is a hard of wolves come into the prison and try and stop them. They knew that Calla was coming. As for the rest of the pack, they stayed with the searchers.

Calla finds out that Ansel has portrayed the searchers and Calla because the keepers promised him that he will be a wolf again. Later that night after the battle Calla and Shay “seal the deal” making him alpha male in the pack.
Best part of story, including ending: I really liked the story because it goes to show that, even though someone has raised you a certain way does not mean that they were telling you the truth.

Best scene in story: My favorite scene is the night after Shay and Calla concemate the deal making shay the alpha male of the pack

Opinion about the main character: I actually like the character because of a few reasons. The first one being that she is alpha female, but she also also human and has her doubts about her role in the whole thing. Yet at the same time she does what she has to do, even after shedding a few tears, she goes back and does it anyways.
