When the Bleakers, a kindly family next-door, are kidnapped, Mack steps out of his indestructible shell and begins a journey to find them among the futuristic skyscrapers and gritty back alleys of Empire City. Along the way, he meets a number of friends and foes, including a Jung, a talking gorilla, Lucia Napier, a brainy dame with a thing for robots and technology, Det. Alfredo Sanchez, a rabbit-sized police officer and a number of unsavory mutant lowlifes. As Mack digs deeper into the mystery of the missing family, the more he discovers about himself. His cybernetic psychologist will be very proud of his progress, if the trouble he uncovers doesn't get him wrecked in the process. As his quest expands to meet with a little green mob boss who seems to be running the town from the shadows, Mack stumbles upon a secret conspiracy that threatens the very future of Empire City and every life form that calls her home.
Best part of story, including ending: This story takes the detective genre and turns it on its automatic audio sensor.

Best scene in story: Mack Megaton finds a wealthy benefactor and is then dressed for success as a classic detective. As much as a 7 foot tall, half ton robot can look like a detective...

Opinion about the main character: How being pushed from his comfort zone make him a better machine, possibly good enough to earn the citizenship he desires.
