Pol and his mother Sioned investigate the invaders further, but during their discoveries they are attacked by the Vellant'im and Pol's daughters are kidnapped.
The war continues to wage between Pol's race and the Vellant'im. Although many lives are lost, the southern territories become claimed as their own. Vellant'im invaders want to join forces with each other on the Continent, but they are unable to because of an ambush by the Dorvali resistance.
Meanwhile, the sorcerers cause havoc in Firon. They capture the royal seat and control the kingdom through Prince Tirel. Yarin, a sorcerer, names himself the Regent of Firon.
As the war continues, Pol and his family must discover a way to defeat the Vellant'im.
Best part of story, including ending:
What I liked about this story was that all the people came together to fight the enemy. Most of the people had hatred toward each other, but they put that aside to defeat a common enemy.
Best scene in story:
The best part of the book was when Yarin gains control of Firon. This was a very suspenseful part and informed me a lot about the rest of the story.
Opinion about the main character:
What I liked most about Pol was his will to bring everyone together to defeat the Vellant'im. His courage to keep his family safe is what saved them in the end.
