A woman with a hidden agenda becomes close to a powerful and mysterious CEO. Rowena is a journalist and works with a good friend, Miles who is secretly obsessed with her. One night, Rowena runs into an old friend Grace who tells her about a man she is dating, Harrison Hill, and how she's scared for her life. The next day, Grace is found poisoned and drowned in the river. Rowena and Miles want to look into it so they set Rowena up to get friendly with Harrison in one of the chatrooms he frequents. To get closer to him, Rowena temps at Harrison's office, and soon he flirts with her. Harrison gets a whiff of Rowena's charade and thinks she's a spy from a rival company, violently accusing her. Rowena goes to the police with her information, and it is enough to get Harrison arrested and tried for Grace's murder. He's found guilty, since Grace's blood was found in his car. We then find out that Rowena, who's mentally ill since she was sexually abused by her father set-up everything. She knew that Harrison had access to the poison that was used on Grace and framed him. Rowena wanted Grace dead since she witnessed Rowena and her mom bury Rowena's dad in their old house. Miles has figured this out as well, so Rowena kills him too.

Because it made you think that Harrison Hill had a dirty secret when all along it was Rowena that had all the motives.

When you meet Harrison Hill for the first time, you know for sure that something's up with him, but later you are proved wrong.
Opinion about the main character:
You will root for Rowena because you're invested in finding Grace's killer, so her character was set-up well in that you would never suspect that she's the mastermind.
