Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Deception (2008)

An accountant is lured into a seductive world of sex and crime by an enigmatic man. Jonathan is an accountant who is instantly intrigued by Wyatt, a handsome, charming man who seems to know a thing or two about life's pleasures. Jonathan couldn't be any more different, living a routine boring life every single day. The two become friends. When their phones get switched, Jonathan is contacted by a seductive woman who wants to meet. He meets her at a hotel, finding out that she is a high class escort. They have sex. When Jonathan talks to Wyatt, he learns that Wyatt is part of an elite sex club. Jonathan continues his affairs with several women. Then he meets S, a blonde woman he's seen before in the subway. Jonathan treats this woman differently, and they engage in a long conversation instead. When he wakes up and finds that the woman is missing, and there is blood in the room, he panics. When he corroborates what happened to the police, they don't believe him. Wyatt meets him and to save S, he agrees to Wyatt's demand of stealing money from the firm that Jonathan is assigned to audit. However, Jonathan adds Wyatt's name to the account as a precaution. When he goes to his apartment, it is rigged with a bomb and explodes, but he escapes. Wyatt then tries to withdraw the money himself posing as Jonathan, but since Jonathan added a cosigner, he fails. Jonathan makes a deal to pull out the money in exchange for half. When they meet, Wyatt tries to kill him but S shows up and shoots Wyatt. She is apparently in on the crime. Jonathan goes after her but she is guilty with what she's done and leaves. Months later, they run into each other in Spain.

Best part of story, including ending: I liked it for Wyatt's character. Coming from Jonathan's perspective, it's easy to fall prey to Wyatt's thrilling lifestyle because he offers something that Jonathan has never ever experienced.

Best scene in story: I like the scene in the boardroom when Jonathan first meets Wyatt. He seems like a personable and charming guy, who's quite harmless. Which is why he draws Jonathan in without much effort.

Opinion about the main character: Jonathan is such an easy target for Wyatt. His vulnerability and weak demeanor really scream "make me your next victim."
