Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Striking Distance

A police officer is tormented by a serial killer with ties to his past. Tom Hardy outs his partner and cousin Jimmy for abuse of a suspect which means that Jimmy will face jailtime. Meanwhile, the Polish Hill killer is being hunted down elsewhere. Tom and his cop dad is in pursuit. Tom gets in a wreck while his dad is later shot and killed. The killer escapes. Jimmy attempts suicide and jumps off a bridge into the water, he is never seen again. Years later, Tom works the river patrols and is alerted to a body dumped in the water. The dead girl is someone he knows. Soon the killer contacts him, and Tom hears a girl being killed on the other line. He knows that it is the Polish Hill killer. He then roughly interrogates a key witness in the old case, but his new partner Jo intervenes. Another body is called in, and it is another girl that Tom knew. Meanwhile, after a police event, Tom and Jo get close and have sex, while the killer watches them. Tom learns that another girl is killed. When there is speculation that Tom could be involved in the murders, the captain, who is Tom's uncle Nick, disproves this since Tom has been under surveillance this whole time by Jo, whose real name is Emily. She was hired to see if Tom will go off-book and needs to be thrown out of the force. Emily is abducted, and Tom figures out that the locations of the dead bodies were all found near his uncle's cabin by the water. He now suspects that his cousin Danny, Jimmy's brother, is behind everything. When he gets there he sees Danny, but he is knocked out by another person. He wakes up beside Danny and Emily, and sees Jimmy, the killer, alive and well. Nick arrives and Jimmy asks him to recall the events of that night that Tom's dad died. It turns out that Nick was there that night, and learned that his son was the killer and let him escape, but when Tom's dad tried to kill Jimmy, Nick was the one who shot him. Hearing this, Nick and Jimmy fight, and Nick is killed. Danny attacks Jimmy but he escapes. Tom pursues him, they fight, and he kills Jimmy with a taser to the mouth.

Best part of story, including ending: There's a lot of family dynamics going on, and they're all cops. You play a guessing a game of who's the killer.

Best scene in story: When they show the revelation of what really transpired that night when Tom's dad died.

Opinion about the main character: Tom has been disgraced in his field and this becomes his chance to redeem himself and he succeeds.
