Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Four Christmases

An unmarried couple is forced into spending the holidays with the four families of each divorced parent. Brad and Kate are unmarried but are in a happy, committed, and playful relationship and would like things to stay that way. Every holiday season, they avoid their divorced parents at all costs and make up some wild excuse, such as going overseas to do charity work, when in fact, they go on a luxurious vacation. Going to Fiji, their flight is cancelled due to heavy fog. They are featured on the news and sure enough, their families start calling them to invite them home. They end up saying yes to all four reunions. At Brad's dad's house, Kate learns their tough love family dynamics. Brad is bullied by his two brothers, and she learns that Brad's real name is Orlando, much to her amusement. Next stop is at Kate's mom's. Her mom is now dating a pastor, explaining her weird religious streak. Brad learns that Kate used to be obese, and that Kate has issues with bouncy houses. This time, Brad is the one entertained with tidbits from Kate's past. When Kate goes to the bathroom, she finds a pregnancy kit and tests one, but her niece grabs it and runs into the bouncy house in the back, reliving Kate's nightmares. The next reunion is at Brad's mom's. She is a hippie and is now living with Brad's childhood friend, apparently they are super sexually active, allowing for a lot of awkward moments. When they play a couples game, Brad and Kate fail miserably, Kate realizes how little they both know about each other, which bothers her. On the way to Kate's dad's house, they have a little argument, Kate says that she's not pregnant but wants kids in the future. Kate stays behind at her dad's, while Brad goes to his dad. Brad tells his dad about their fight, and his dad tells him that they are exactly alike. Brad is turned off by this and doesn't want "this" to be his future so he runs back to Kate to talk and they reconcile. Fast forward to New Year's and Kate has given birth to a baby, again, they have kept this a secret from everybody. Ironically, their baby is the first one born for the year, and another news crew arrives to film them.

Best part of story, including ending: I like watching how absurdly kooky their family dynamics are, creating a lot of funny moments.

Best scene in story: When they start opening gifts at Brad's dad's house. Brad wasn't told about the $10 cap, he ends up giving his nephew an X-box making the boy's dad look like a total idiot for giving his son a flashlight.

Opinion about the main character: Brad and Kate are realists, who know exactly what they want from their relationship. However, after their reunions, they realize that there's room for change which isn't always a bad thing.
