Whiskey Beach Book Summary and Study Guide

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Whiskey Beach

Eli Landon has left his law firm in Boston after being accused of murdering his soon-to-be ex-wife. Landon has not been convicted but had been eased out of the firm for appearance's sake. Landon decides he is going to go to his family home, Bluff, House, located on Whiskey Beach.

Bluff House is typically inhabited by Landon's grandmother but she is staying in Boston recovering from a fall. Landon intends to watch over the house while trying his hand at novel writing. Landon's grandmother has arranged for Abra Walsh, a neighbor and house cleaner, to ensure that Landon is taken care of while he is in residence. Landon's grandmother also has an ulterior motive that Abra will give Landon the love he has been missing and so desperately needs.

Things begin to take a turn when the secrets of Bluff House, supposedly haunted, come to the forefront. One of Landon's ancestors eloped against her family's will and had a child that was never recognized. The girl was disowned. Years later, the girl's grandson intends to take back what is rightfully his, even if it includes murder. This puts both Landon and Abra at risk.

“Accidents” begin to occur at Bluff House. Instead of scaring Landon and Abra away, it only fuels their fire to learn the truth about the house on the hill as well as Landon's family.

Throughout the mystery Landon and Abra develop a relationship as they learn more about Whiskey Beach. Many family secrets are uncovered when Landon finds a trunk in the attic containing letters from his ancestor, the builder of Bluff House.
Best part of story, including ending: I liked the story because it combined history, intrigue, and romance.

Best scene in story: My favorite scene is the one in which Landon meets Abra for the first time. Landon is closed off and shy while Abra catches him off guard with her open and forthright personality.

Opinion about the main character: I like Landon's fortitude when it comes to not giving up on finding out the truth about his family's history.
