Blue Moon Book Summary and Study Guide

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Blue Moon

Blue Moon is the second novel in the Immortal series featuring a girl named Ever who is trying to cope with her new found Immortality, her abilities, a secret world, and choosing between her past and centuries of love. Ever Bloom is a teen girl that has recently uncovered a secret about herself and the boy she loves. She has recently developed the ability to hear people's thoughts and see into their lives with a simple touch of their skin. For a while she hid in hoodies and plugged in headphones to drown out the confusion of the world she was experiencing. After meeting a new boy in school named Damen, she learned that her family was murdered by Damen's ex Drina when she tried to kill Ever in a car accident. Damen saved Ever from the accident because he loved her for many years. Ever learned that Damen is 600 years old and that Drina has killed her every time she has reincarnated over the centuries because Damen believes he and Ever are soul mates.

The second novel takes place on Earth, but features a plain of existence called Summerland where Ever is able to view the past to see how Damen became immortal and her past lives with him. As Ever goes stronger in her abilities, Damen grows weaker, losing his memories and strength without an explanation. As Damen is fading away, Ever becomes increasingly worried and intent on saving him, but she learns she has to choose between bringing her family back and saving her one true love all the while battling a new enemy.

A new boy named Roman comes to school and becomes popular. One night, Ever goes to a play to see her best friend and finds that Damen leaves her. Roman is there and offers to drive her home, but she is reluctant because she doesn't trust him. The following day, Ever gets to school and finds that Damen has joined a group of popular students that treat Ever like a loser; Damen acts as if he hates her and doesn't remember their love. She figures out that the immortal potion that Damen drinks has been poisoned by none other than Roman!

She travels to Summerland where she talks to some of the dead (including her sister) that haven't crossed over and finds out she may be able to erase the past. Ever could become human again, bring her family back, and save Damen. She must choose between a life with Damen or a human life with her family. Ever decides to do this, but writes a note she keeps in her back pocket so that when she gets to her old life, she'll remember everything. But Ever finds the note in the past and ignores the message.

Time is about to overlap where Ever asks her dad to turn the car around near the bridge so she can get a sweater she left. She thinks about the note and decides not to go back, but then time freezes for everyone except Ever. Her sister Riley's body is taken over by the past ghost Riley who urges her she has to go back for the sweater, and that she can't change what happened in time because it was supposed to happen. Riley tells her she can choose right now to go back and be with Damen or she can stay in the past and live with her family.

She goes back to be with Damen and learns that the elixir he's been drinking is poisoned. Ever adds her blood to the poison thinking that it will save Damen, but she finds she has been tricked by Roman. The elixir that Damen is drinking is now filled with Ever's DNA and if any part of her touches Damen, he will die.
Best part of story, including ending: I loved Summerland! The descriptions for that place are lovely.

Best scene in story: My favorite scene is when time freezes and Ever is given the chance to go back and be with her family. It's suspenseful because there was a possibility that Ever wouldn't be with Damen again and wouldn't remember him or anything about Immortals.

Opinion about the main character: Ever is annoying sometimes. I feel like it takes her forever to come to a conclusion she should've realized a long time ago... like that Roman wasn't a nice popular guy, but an evil jerk who was poisoning her beloved.
